According to our contact, the number of visitors to Cagbalete doubled last Labor Day. The island is becoming more and more popular every year, and I’m glad we visited it before it turns into another Boracay (you know, overcrowded).
How does Cagbalete compare with other beaches we’ve been to? (NOTE: Comparison is for those who’d like to visit Cagbalete and need a point of reference.)
Here’s my take. Cagbalete’s sand is not as consistently fine as Boracay’s but the water is clear and it doesn’t get deep even if you go far out from the beach. Also, there are portions of the beach that reminded me of Coron. The only difference is that Coron’s sand is whiter.
Bottomline is, if you’re looking for a memorable yet inexpensive weekend trip, Cagbalete is the place to be. For our May 1st escape, I spent only Php 1,500.
Here are some images of the beach.
